Samaritan Clinic / Hospital, is a private medical institution located in Eket in Akwa- Ibom State of Nigeria. The Hospital started its operations on 1982 and is fully registered with the State Ministry of Health, and National Health Insurance Scheme. We started operations in 1982 in a rented apartment (a story building) and by 1996 we had moved to our permanent site which is located at 7, Ekong Uko Street. The Hospital consulting rooms, a pharmacy, a laboratory department, x-ray and ultrasound department, audiometry room and operating theatre, in-patients beds. The wards are made up of private wards, general and children’s ward. We also have X-ray department. Our center is one of the few retained medical institutions utilized by several companies in the oil & gas sector which is one of the reasons we consistently maintain a high quality standard of practice. We offer medical services to many other companies in different sectors who are operating here in Eket, Port Harcourt and the environs.

Objective

The Hospital objective is to deliver quality health care at affordable cost to the patients and to deliver health services that are evidence based, and current.

Mission Statement

The Hospital mission statement is to create a medical service organization whose services are affordable, current and satisfactory to all stake holders.

Vision

The Hospital vision is to become one of the prime leaders on health Services management and delivery in Nigeria. Health is an essential aspect of life and therefore requires planning to ensure appropriate execution. The state of health of a people all influence the ability of such a people to contribute to the society. Healthy living can only be attained through a conscious effort not by accident. It has been more than twenty – five years since we set out in this rarely exciting journey. Firstly we are overwhelmed that a simple place to serve has snowballed into a grant project. We did not set out for fare, we saw urgent need for quality healthcare and passionately responded to close the gap. The vast majority underestimated the power of a compelling vision when pursued with a common zeal. We had the course to be ourselves, and with your contribution to this cause will help us make excellent service on epidemic and in this spirit of service we will find our voice. It is our hope that with your assistance we will make a deliberate choice to invest in quality technology and better quality practices.

Staff

We have adequate medical Nurses and Doctors who are qualified and competent and fully registered by appropriate medical institutions in Nigeria. The Hospital has a Medical Director, Medical doctors with nurses in different disciplines. The laboratory is comprised of qualified Laboratory Scientists with Laboratory Technicians and aids.

Disease Pattern

Nigeria is a developing country and has all the medical problems associated with poverty and ignorance. Medical education such as Health takes are provided since we realize that prevention is better than cure. Preventive medical is thus emphasized. Common ailment treated include malaria, diarrheal diseases that are water borne, ailments associated with poor hygienic conditions, poverty and ignorance, malnutrition and associated ailments malaria is a diseases that is so serious that we cannot wish it away we know fully well that major strategies for prevention of malaria are the population of man – mosquito contact, reduction in the population of mosquitoes with human habitation and chemoprophylaxis. We have to make adequate provisions to tackle this herculean problem such as providing mosquito nets / insecticide treated mosquito nets (ITNs).
Gastro – intestinal parasites continue to course significant morbidity and mortality globally especially in Nigeria and other less developed tropical and sub – tropical countries where poor hygiene, ignorance, poverty and conducive environment condition constitute compounding factors.
